The Buckeyes, By the Numbers
(Editors Note: While not visible from this shot, Art McGregor and The Godfather are on the field. They ran into each other that day, exchanged Buckeye pleasantries, and then didn’t see each other until a random, chilly October 28, 2005, at the Slo-Pitch.)
Following a disappointing effort by the Jackets Monday, GVM staff was left to drown their sorrows and return their thoughts to the only matter worth returning thoughts to, Buckeye Football.
The Godfather led McGinley and Art McGregor in an exciting game of, “I say the number, you name the Buckeye.” There were some gaps in their answers (mainly the 60’s.) that led to research which resulted in the list below.
Before you start e-mailing the Godfather en-masse, this is not meant to be a list of the best Buckeye at each position, but rather the one that immediately comes to mind when you hear the number. You’ll see why some numbers were tough, mainly the 60’s.
Each number is presented with the correct answer, followed by (parenthetical honorable mentions.)
