MY HEAD ... THE BASKETBALL

(NOTE ON MUSIC: I was late to start listening to The National. But I'm glad I started. Anyway, they have a line in their song "Fake Empire" that says "put a little something in our lemonade and take it with us ..." I love that line because to me, it means that even when we're able to make lemonade out of the lemons life gives us, it's still OK to add a little something else to our lemonade.)

While I was half awake this weekend ...

I'm not sure how many Sweet 16-ers I have left. I know how many I've done. Oops. Are done. Don't matter. I went with Texas over Kansas in the championship game. No one else has Texas even in the title game. Not too worried. Actually I am. They looked bad against Miami (Fla.) and Stanford seems dead set on making the Final Four to play UCLA in an epic clash six people outside of California care about.

On a brief sider, most of the girls I saw out this weekend would look bad compared to their counterparts at Miami (Ohio) or Ohio State-Oxford, whatever you choose to call Ohio's second best public school.

Had a stunningly OK weekend. One of my many theories on life is that nothing good ever happens on Sunday. Various heartbreaking sports losses, getting dumped, the trendys getting engaged, etc. All of these things happened on a Sunday.

Easter is by far my least favorite holiday. It's in the Top 5 boring days of the year ... and actually might be No. 1. Since we live in a somewhat transient place like Columbus, Ohio, we experience "people going back home for the holiday." I'm not sure why. I am 100 percent going back home for Mother's Day (even Father's Day ... or as my dad calls it "Happy Fadddders Day!" ... followed by a mandatory joke about Harlem). But Easter? Come on. LEASTER sucks.

So I wasn't expecting much out of this weekend. It met my expectations on Thursday night. Did the Slo-Pitch. Nothing bad really happened. Watched a lot of basketball. Went to Skully's. It was pretty OK. Again. An OK night.

Took off Friday. Watched a ton of basketball. Went to The Inn Between to watch college basketball. I know, right? Bad choice. I was right. It was nappy. Like two televisions, no good sightlines, pretty terrible food, awful service, etc. The Godfather made the joke of the weekend saying ... "wait, so he's a banker and his wife's a banker? Would that make their kids Jews?"

Went back to The Slo on Friday night and don't remember much. Hung with The Godfather and trendy. Saw the Truth and The Mayor again. Watched MORE basketball. Went home.

Saturday, woke up around noon and watched more basketball. Went on a DATE to Barcelona. Wow. Those mashed potatoes were awesome. The server left her business card. That was kinda neat. Next time I go to KFC I'm definitely ordering the "potatoes puree."

DATE went well. Missed most of the good late games. Damnit. Caught the end of the UCLA game. Fuckers. I hate UCLA. Took a shower around midnight (gots to) and then headed back to the Slo-Pitch. Had a great time. Hung with Hoodie, AW, Sonbreath and some other dude. I actually played Golden Tee and had "THE GREATEST SHOT." Coming within an inch of nin... coming an inch within a hole in one. BIG D!

I played the last six holes "laying up" every chance I got and going for even par. Almost worked. Sonbreath won.

Left around 2:30 a.m. ... and you guessed it, woke up and watched more hoops.

Easter did not suck. Watched some games, talked to this girl I met on St. Patrick's Day (hair stylist, 24, Bethel Road). Hanging out with her tomorrow night. Sweetness.

trendy came over around 10 and we finished off an 18-pack of Miller Lites. We also started that 18-pack. Complete game. Watched "Can't Buy Me Love." Great fucking movie. I love that I know Darcy DeMoss (Cindy's hotter friend) went on to a brief career on softcore porn series "Eden."

Overall, it's good to get back to some regular days.

I think some people are going to Bruce Springsteen tonight. I'm planning on taking it easy, like he sings in the song. Oops. That's the Eagles? There's a difference?

Kidding. I like the Boss, but not as much as others. I imagine it'll be awesome to see him live.

You started out by showing some musical taste in liking The National(you're welcome), but thinking that there is no difference between The Eagles and Bruce Springsteen shows me you have a long way to go.

Recall this is the guy who said to me two summers ago "Ben Folds has five songs tht are better than anything Nirvana has ever done."

Yeah, I punched him. Love him, though.
